Ghoshbabu is staying at Ghosh Housing Society, Aghosh Colony, Dighoshpur, Calcutta. In Ghosh Housing Society 6 persons read daily Ganshakit and 4 read Anand Bazar Patrika: in his colony there is no person who reads both. The total number of persons who read these two newspapers in Aghosh Colony and Dighoshpur is 52 and 200 respectively. The number of persons who read Ganashakti in Aghosh Colony and Dighoshpur is33 and 121 respectively; while the persons who read Anand Bazar Patrika in Aghosh Colony and Dighoshpurare32 and 117 respectively

Let x : Number of persons reading only Anandbazar  

     y  : Number of persons reading only Ganashakti

    z  : Number of persons reading both  

     Hence ,

     x + 2y + z  =  65

     x  + y + z   =  52

==>   y  =   13

     Hence ,

   x + z            =  52  -  13

                       =  39

 

Hence , number of persons reading only 1 newspaper in Aghosh Colony   =   39
