Each of the following pie charts gives the percentage split up of the total time spent by a certain student towards preparation of CAT $2005$

If atleast $5\%$ of the time spent on each area of study was spent on solved examples of that area, then the time spent on solved examples in any area of study, as percentage of the total time spent on that area of study, is at most.

• A. $21\frac{1}{6}\%$
• B. $30\%$
• C. $38\frac{1}{3}\%$
• D. $55\%$

Assume any value , lets say 10%=2 hours,

So. Solved Example = 2hour

then calculate the hours for every subject in Area of study according to 5%

it will sums up to 1 Hour(0.2+0.1+0.1+0.15+0.15+0.3)

then we are left with 2-1 = 1 hour of Solved Example

we have to find atmost(Maximum)

so give that remaining 1 hour to each area of study then calculate its percentage

for DI - 0.2 + 1 = 1.2---> (1.2 /4)*100= 30%

For DS= 0.1 + 1 = 1-1----> (1.1/2)*100 = 55% (Ans.)
